The Business Intelligence Consultant is a specialist in helping clients leverage their information present in Data & Analytics solutions. As a Business Intelligence Consultant, you gather requirements from stakeholders, using design thinking and other business analytics frameworks. You design analytical products and work together with data engineers, data scientists and stakeholders to realize, test and maintain the information products.

Job requirements

The business intelligence consultant is a progressive person who combines his IT, data visualization and business skills with business affinity. The business intelligence consultant wants to use his or her skills in a ‘practice-driven’ big data setting, so that he or she can actually see the effects of output. The business intelligence consultant likes to explore together with stakeholders how data can be used even more effectively and efficiently to create value for the organization.

**Required technical skills**

  • In-depth knowledge of Databases and Data Visualizations;
  • Knowledge of or experience with one or more programming languages ​​such as SQL, DAX, SPARQL and Python;
  • Knowledge of modeling data models such as Data Vault, Star Modeling, Third Normal Form Modeling, Triple Stores and Operational Data Hubs;
  • Knowledge of Ontology Based Searching and Text Semantics;
  • Knowledge of or experience with one or more SQL database software applications such as SQL Server, Oracle, Exasol, Snowflake and PostgresQL;
  • Knowledge of or experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB;
  • Knowledge of or experience with BI Front-end tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Cognos, Microstrategy, Yellowfin BI, Spotfire and SAS VA;
  • Knowledge of or experience with Modeling tools such as Power Designer, ErWin and Hackolade.
